Matched two-font families

Duo Fonts (261 Profiles)

Two hundred and seventy-nine duo families, each shipping two coordinated fonts so a headline and its supporting line are decided before you start. This is the shortest route to a coherent design.

Letterform anatomy

How to read duo letterforms.

Three checks worth running on any specimen before you compare prices.

A duo is judged by how the pair was matched. The good ones coordinate stroke weight, x-height and terminal angle, so a script headline and a sans subhead look drawn by the same hand. The weak ones are simply two unrelated fonts bundled together, which shows up as a visible jump in weight when the two lines sit side by side.

Original Cupcake Handmade Duo preview by DN Creative

Tall rounded sans with fine extended script

Cupcake Handmade Duo

Cupcake Handmade Duo places tall narrow rounded letters in pale pink behind a smaller connected script line in black, twice on one cover, where the script carries long outer tails and looped k and h forms while a balloon pair, a cupcake drawing and an update badge sit in the corners.

Contrasting sans capitals and fine signature duo

Brown Carolina Duo

Brown Carolina Duo contrasts broad high-contrast capitals with a much finer narrow slanted script, set dark on a plain cream field, where the capital R legs sweep below the neighbouring letters and the script carries long tails that run past the ends of both words.

Production reality

Where these faces fail.

Check what the second font actually contains. Some duos pair a full script with an all-caps display face that has no lowercase, which limits the subhead to short labels. Read the listing's glyph coverage before assuming the second font can carry real sentences.

Is a font duo worth it compared with two single fonts?

If the pair is genuinely coordinated, yes: the weights and proportions already match, which saves the correction work of pairing across studios. If the two fonts look unrelated, buy the lead font on its own and choose a companion you can inspect separately.

Can I use only one font from a duo?

You can, and many makers do. The second font is simply part of the same purchase, so using only the script half is fine. Keep the unused files anyway, because they are the natural companion if the project grows.
