Production reality
Large bundles are heavy to install and easy to confuse. Check whether the files are organised into folders with preview images; if they are not, rename them on install so your font menu stays navigable, and confirm that commercial use is included for every item rather than the pack as a whole.
Between three and eight. Past that, the pack is usually padded with near-duplicates, and the practical question becomes whether you would ever choose one of those fonts over another in the same pack.
Read the listing carefully. Most bundle licences match single-font desktop licences, but some restrict the number of projects or exclude resale work. The licence terms of the pack override the individual files.
