Ornament is the first thing to disappear at small sizes. Below roughly one inch of cap height, thin flourishes break during weeding and disappear in low-resolution sublimation, so keep decorative faces for name plates, signage and large decals and set supporting copy in something plainer.
When the text is longer than a name. Decorative faces slow reading down by design, so a shop sign, a cake topper or a journal cover works while an address block, a menu description or a paragraph does not. Pair it with a neutral serif or sans for everything else.
Not automatically. Some ship a single connected monogram as one glyph, and others include separate left, middle and right letters that you assemble yourself. Check the character map before buying if the layout needs three different initials in a frame.
