Varsity blocks with fine script
Sport Varsity pairs heavy clipped-corner slab capitals with a much thinner flowing script, where the block O has a tall angular counter and the script crosses the centre with long t bars, a deep y loop and a sweeping entry stroke from the left.

Visual anatomy & craft review
The caps stay square and heavy, the corners clip at an angle, the script stays fine and crosses the block row, and two strokes sweep far outside the word. That crossing is the character: the script is placed on the join between the two cap rows rather than under them, which is why the sample stacks three rows. Keep 48 pt for the caps and 22 pt for the script, leave 20 mm for the entry sweep and check the y loop against your bottom margin before locking the stack.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Sport Varsity’s stroke geometry.
The clipped blocks give a team name its weight and the script adds the year, which is the standard split on a sports back print.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 300 mm back panel: set the team name at 70 mm on one row, set the year in the script at 26 mm beneath with 18 mm of clear ground, and keep 20 mm of margin from each side seam.
Pre-production check
The script is thin for fabric; check the transfer proof and thicken the strokes if they break up.
The varsity blocks read on a dark label and the fine script gives the venue a second, quieter voice for the detail line.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 60 by 90 mm menu label: set the bar name at 26 pt, set the strapline in the script at 12 pt beneath with 8 mm of clear ground, and keep 6 mm to the die edge for the sweep.
Pre-production check
The angular counter fills at small sizes; check the plate proof and keep the name at 24 pt or above.
The block caps suit a graduation card and the script carries the name, so the card reads as a program without extra art.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 120 by 170 mm card: set the year in the caps at 46 pt, set the name in the script at 20 pt crossing the base of the block, keep 16 mm of clear ground beneath, and keep 15 mm of margin.
Pre-production check
The script crossing the caps needs contrast; check the card and keep the script one solid colour.
