Visual anatomy & craft review
Elis is an ornamental display in which each capital is sculpted from layered curved swan feathers and avian plumes with soft relief shading, so a word reads as a golden emblem rather than as lettering. The feathers build the letter shape, which means the face needs size for the layering to read, and the plumes flare beyond the letter body. It needs roughly 36 mm for the plumes to hold, and it is best in relief gold on dark emerald or in one flat metallic on ivory for print.

Golden plumes read as a celebratory emblem, which is what a milestone birthday sends. The feathered caps give the invite its luxury without an illustration, and one metallic ink on dark card keeps the cost down.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Invite A6, word 40 mm with 10 mm plume clearance, details 8/11 pt, 12 mm margins. Topper 130 x 110 mm, word 50 mm with an 8 mm slot and 12 mm clear. Card 105 x 148 mm, word 30 mm, 12 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A laser-cut topper drops the fine plume tips under 1 mm and the feathers snap in handling. Keep the topper at 60 mm or cut the silhouette only, and cut one prototype before the batch.
Feather-sculpted caps read as a gala cover title, which is what a charity programme wants. The relief gives the word depth in one metallic print, and the flared plumes fill a cover without a photograph.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Cover 210 x 297 mm, title 96 pt with 12 mm plume clearance, cover lines 10/14 pt, 18 mm margins and 10 mm trim. Programme A5, cover 44 pt, running order 8/11 pt. Insert 148 x 210 mm, word 40 mm, 15 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A metallic ink on uncoated stock sinks into the paper and the feather layering reads as a grey smudge. Print on coated stock or foil at 90 pt, and check one proof at 1:1 before the run.
Plumed gold caps read as an engraved emblem, which is what a formal wedding wants on the invitation rather than a script. The relief holds at 28 pt on dark card, and the feathers give the couple's initial one mark.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Invitation 130 x 180 mm, names 28 pt with 10 mm plume clearance, details 9/13 pt, 15 mm margins. Menu 120 x 210 mm, header 16 pt, dishes 9/13 pt. Place card 90 x 50 mm, name 9 pt.
Pre-production check
A 9 pt place card collapses the feather layering into a solid blob and the name reads as a smudge. Keep the monogram at 16 pt or above, and check one printed card before the suite.
