Visual anatomy & craft review
Vectra is a deconstructed minimalist stencil and puzzle logo font: letters are broken into separated segments with deliberate gaps, sharp modular angles and a geometry that reads as a sliced mark rather than a drawn letter. The gaps are the design and they close under vinyl weeding if they are too narrow, and the modular build means a letter can look like two pieces. It needs roughly 26 mm for the gaps and the angles to read, and it is best as a one-colour vinyl or cut job, or a flat two-colour print on coated stock.

A deconstructed stencil reads as a sliced mark rather than a wordmark, which is what an architecture practice wants on a plate. The gaps hold at 26 mm on a card, and one vinyl colour covers the decal and the card print.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Card 85 x 55 mm, word 26 mm with 6 mm gap clearance, details 7/9 pt, 6 mm margins. Door plate 300 x 80 mm, word 40 mm, 10 mm margins. Window decal 400 x 200 mm, word 60 mm, 25 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 400 x 200 mm decal at 60 mm has 1.5 mm segment gaps that stretch during weeding. Keep gaps at 2.5 mm or above, and weed one decal before the run.
A modular stencil turns a design issue into its own sliced masthead. The segments hold at 40 pt on a coated page, and one ink keeps the gaps from filling at the edges.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Header 40 pt with 8 mm gap clearance, body 9/13 pt over two columns of 82 mm, 18 mm margins and a 12 mm head. Opener 32 pt with 10 mm of clear ground. Folio mark 12 mm, set 8 mm from the trim with a single segment only.
Pre-production check
At 12 mm on the folio mark the gaps close and the mark reads as a smudge. Use a single segment on the folio, and proof one spread at 1:1.
A puzzle stencil reads as a studio exercise rather than a school worksheet, which is what a design class wants on its wall. The gaps hold at 120 mm on a poster, and one vinyl colour covers the signage and the certificates.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Poster A2, word 120 mm with 14 mm gap clearance, details 40 mm, 20 mm margins. Signage 600 x 400 mm, word 90 mm, 25 mm margins. Certificate A5 landscape, word 30 mm, 12 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A vinyl sign at 90 mm has segments that separate during weeding and re-register off-line. Weed into position with transfer tape, and apply one sign before the run.
