Condensed athletic slab with edging
Single is a condensed athletic slab in red on an off-white sheet: broad heavy capitals with square serifs, a light inner outline that gives a double edge, chamfered corners and sparse white flecks, with a tracked line above and a plain caption beneath.

Fine grain and micro-texture excel in 300 DPI print, sublimation, and screen print rather than small vinyl weeding.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The word fills the plate and the drawing is a condensed slab with an inner line: the serifs are square, the corners are chamfered, and a fine outline sits inside each letter, which lets the face print as a two-colour block or as a single-colour shape. The wear is sparse rather than heavy, so the letters stay solid and the texture reads at large sizes only. That construction sets a size floor for the inner line, because it closes when the letters shrink. The off-white ground keeps the red from vibrating, and the tracked lines above and beneath are plain. Because the letters are condensed and heavy, the face suits a banner, a shirt and a sign, and the double edge is the detail that makes a plain sports block worth choosing.

A condensed slab with an inner edge reads as school kit, and the narrow width fits a long event name on a banner rail. It reads at distance and in a crowd photo.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print 1,300 by 450 mm: the event at 150 mm cap height, the times in a 30 mm slab, and a 5 mm inset. Keep 30 mm margins and print two colours on light vinyl.
Pre-production check
Check the banner at ten metres, where a 5 mm inset can vanish; keep it above 8 mm. Confirm the 30 mm times read at five metres and that the eyelets clear the block.
A double-edged slab prints as two passes and reads as uniform, which is what a team shirt needs on a crowd photo. The double edge does the work here.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 250 mm chest graphic: the team at 60 mm cap height, the year at 28 mm, and two inks with a 3 mm inset. Keep the narrowest counter at 4 mm and place the graphic 80 mm below the collar.
Pre-production check
Check the screen at actual mesh, where a 3 mm inset can fill; thicken it to 4 mm. Wash-test one shirt and confirm the inset stays even after five cycles.
A condensed slab holds a long gym name on a narrow fascia, and the worn edge reads as a working space rather than a showroom.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Fabricate a 1,000 by 320 mm panel: the gym at 110 mm cap height, the hours in a 22 mm slab, and a 4 mm inset. Keep 25 mm margins and specify a matte finish.
Pre-production check
Check the panel at 110 mm, where the inset can disappear in a matte finish; keep it above 6 mm. Confirm the 22 mm hours read at two metres and that the panel clears the door.
