Ultra condensed display sans
Primate is an ultra condensed sans display in white on a red-tinted portrait: very tall narrow caps with flat terminals, a high waist and thin counters, set edge to edge so the letters nearly touch, with three small tracked labels along the foot.

Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The word is set across the full width and the drawing is an ultra condensed sans: the stems are tall, the counters are slivers, and the terminals are flat, which lets a nine-letter word fill a plate without losing its height. The letters are set so tightly that the spacing becomes the design, and the specimen shows that deliberately by keeping the block flush with both edges. Because the counters are so narrow, the face needs a large size and a plain ground, and the plate keeps the type over a soft photographic field. The three tracked labels along the foot state the category, the studio and the language support in a small grotesque, which keeps the plate informative without competing with the block.

An ultra condensed face lets a long single word hold an entire cover width at full height, which is exactly what a design journal wants for a confident masthead.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the title at 140 mm cap height across 240 mm, flush to both margins, with the issue details in a 9 pt sans on the lower edge. Print one ink on a dark ground and keep the title in the upper two thirds.
Pre-production check
Check the title at 140 mm, where the thin counters can fill on press; keep them above 2 mm. Confirm the 9 pt issue details read at arm's length and that the flush setting does not look like an error.
A condensed display gives a single-word show title poster-scale presence, and the tight setting means no supporting graphic is needed to fill the sheet.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
A2 portrait: the show title at 150 mm cap height, the dates in a 20 mm sans, and the address at 12 mm. Keep 25 mm margins and print white on a dark ground so the slivers of counter stay open.
Pre-production check
Check the poster at five metres, where the narrow counters can disappear into the stems; keep them above 4 mm at that scale. Confirm the 12 mm address reads at three metres and that the title meets both margins.
An ultra condensed face fits a long event name on a narrow banner where a normal width would have to break into three lines.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print 800 by 500 mm: the event at 160 mm cap height, the line-up in a 22 mm sans, and the date at 30 mm. Keep 25 mm margins and print two colours on a light ground.
Pre-production check
Check the banner at six metres, where a condensed face can look thin; keep the stems heavy. Confirm the 22 mm line-up reads at three metres and that the date sits clear of the descender-free block.
