Very condensed distressed slab
Western Sporty is a very condensed square slab in black on a torn paper sheet: tall caps with heavy square slabs, scratched irregular fill and rough edges, set on two lines with a tracked line above and a caption beneath, over a ground of aged newspaper and travel props.

Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The two words are stacked and the drawing is a condensed slab at a heavy weight: the letters are tall and narrow, the slabs are square, and the fill is scratched with fine irregular lines rather than speckled, which keeps the letters solid while reading as worn print. That construction sets a size floor, because the scratches close when the letters shrink, and the plate sets the block large enough that the wear reads as texture. The aged newspaper ground and the globe, compass and scroll are staging that set the context, and the tracked lines above and beneath are set in plain faces. Because the letters are condensed, the face fits long words in narrow spaces, which is the practical reason a sports or western poster chooses this width.

A condensed slab fits a long fixture line in a narrow banner, and the heavy weight holds at distance where a wide slab would shrink.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print 1,300 by 450 mm: the fixture at 150 mm cap height, the date in a 34 mm slab, and a 5 mm rule. Keep 28 mm margins and print one colour on a light vinyl.
Pre-production check
Check the banner at ten metres, where the scratches can read as damage; keep them fine. Confirm the 34 mm date reads at five metres and that the eyelets clear the block.
A worn slab reads as a traditional shop, and the condensed width fits a long trading name on a narrow fascia above a door.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Paint a 900 by 320 mm fascia: the shop at 110 mm cap height, the hours in a 20 mm slab, and a 4 mm rule. Keep 22 mm margins and paint two colours on a dark board.
Pre-production check
Check the fascia at five metres, where the narrow counters can fill with paint; keep them above 5 mm. Confirm the 20 mm hours read at two metres and that the rule clears the fixings.
A distressed condensed slab prints as one screen and looks like a rodeo shirt, which suits a themed celebration far better than a clean face.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 240 mm chest graphic: the slogan at 60 mm cap height, the year at 30 mm, and one ink on a mid-toned shirt. Keep the narrowest counter at 4 mm and place the graphic 80 mm below the collar.
Pre-production check
Check the screen at actual mesh, where a 4 mm counter can fill; open the spacing. Wash-test one shirt and confirm the letters stay legible after five cycles.
