Groovy flared capitals with sweeping arms
Retro Holly is a groovy display face in pink and red on cream: capitals with flared stems and sweeping arms, uneven outlines and a wobbling baseline, set as two stacked words with a tracked line of small capitals below.

Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
Two words are stacked and set very large, and the face is a groovy display: the R has a flared stem and a curled foot, the T carries arms that sweep past the stem, the O bulges at the sides, the H throws its right arm out and the Y splays into two wide prongs, while the outlines are slightly uneven from letter to letter so the word looks drawn instead of plotted. The stroke is heavy with a soft taper at the flares rather than a true contrast, the counters are narrow slits in the E and wide ovals in the O, and the baseline wobbles enough to feel hand-set. Two colours are used in the sample, a pink above and a red below, on a flat cream ground, with a tracked line of small capitals in a quirky mixed case under the block and a curved line of tracked letters at the top right. Retro Holly is a display face for posters, party goods and packaging with a seventies feel, and it needs one or two short words at a size where the flares have room.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Retro Holly’s stroke geometry.
A groovy flared face sets the decade in one glance, and heavy capitals hold their shape on a poster seen from across a hall.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print an A2 poster at 420 by 594 mm: set the title at 130 pt over two lines, keep 40 mm of clear ground beneath before the time at 22 pt, and hold 28 mm of margin on all four sides.
Pre-production check
Wobbling baselines look like mistakes when a line is long; keep each word short and proof the poster flat before the run.
The flare and the bulge give a bottle a period look that a modern geometric face cannot, and two colours let the label carry the shape without an illustration.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 65 by 95 mm label: set the brand at 17 pt on one line, keep 7 mm of clear ground beneath before the flavour at 6 pt, and hold 5 mm of margin on all four sides.
Pre-production check
Flared stems can fill in at seventeen points on a small label; print one on the real bottle and check the counters before the order.
A groovy display face signals the subject of an issue before the coverlines are read, and the uneven outlines suit a printed, slightly worn look.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 230 by 300 mm cover: set the masthead at 110 pt on one line, keep 26 mm of clear ground beneath before the coverlines at 11 pt, and hold 18 mm of margin at the top and sides.
Pre-production check
A wide sweep on a capital can collide with a coverline; sketch the block on the artwork and check the clearances before the print.
