Visual anatomy & craft review
Jersey Varsity is a tall collegiate varsity slab with a double trim: the letter body is solid, a fine rule runs just inside the contour and a second fine rule sits outside it, giving the layered look of a stitched jersey patch. The two trims need clear space on both sides, and the inner rule closes first when the letter shrinks. It needs roughly 32 mm for both trims to read as separate lines, and it is best in one dark ink on heather grey and cream, or a two-colour build where the outer trim carries the second colour.

A double-trimmed varsity slab is the lettering printed on a school jersey, so a gym banner in it matches the kit. The trims give the team name depth at 60 mm, and one thread colour covers the patch while the same artwork prints the banner.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Jersey print 280 x 220 mm, word 60 mm with 8 mm trim clearance, 20 mm margins. Jacket patch 90 x 60 mm, word 24 mm, 4 mm edge margin. Gym banner 1800 x 600 mm, word 180 mm, 40 mm safe edge.
Pre-production check
At 24 mm on an embroidered patch the inner trim stitches into the outer and the letter fills solid. Keep patch lettering at 32 mm or above, and approve one embroidered sample before the order.
A double-trimmed slab reads as a campus-supply label rather than a fashion brand, which is what a college shop wants on its tags. The trims hold at 26 mm on a cap, and one ink prints the card and the tag from one file.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Cap mark 60 mm wide, word 20 mm with 5 mm trim clearance, 5 mm margin. Woven tag 50 x 25 mm, word 10 mm, 2 mm margin. Card 85 x 55 mm, word 16 mm, 5 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 50 x 25 mm woven tag at 10 mm cannot carry two trims and the word stitches as a solid bar. Use a printed tag or a single-trim cut, and check one tag before the run.
A double-trimmed varsity slab reads as a printed homecoming bill rather than a digital flyer, which is what a school autumn tradition wants. The heavy stems hold at 150 mm across a banner, and one ink prints the tickets and the alumni card in the same order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Banner 2000 x 600 mm, word 160 mm with 12 mm trim clearance, 40 mm safe edge. Ticket 100 x 50 mm, word 14 mm, 4 mm perforation. Alumni card 85 x 55 mm, word 14 mm, 5 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 100 x 50 mm ticket at 14 mm merges both trims into the stem and the word prints as a grubby block. Keep tickets at 20 mm or use the single-trim cut, and check one ticket before the batch.
