of Happy Storybook.

Happy Storybook is a sketch-lined hollow display made of notebook doodles: each letter is built from two or three overlapping pencil outlines, the interior is left open and small notebook details such as a stitched spine or a drawn arrow sit at the ends of some words. Because the letter is a sketch rather than a fill, it reads light at any size and closes only when reversed. It needs roughly 30 mm for the overlapping pencil lines to read as sketch, and it is best in one soft graphite ink on white, or one bright colour on kraft where the hollow interior lets the paper show.

A sketch-lined display reads as a page from a child's notebook, which is what a storybook-themed birthday wants on the invite. The overlapping pencil lines keep the word light at 36 mm, and one ink prints the invite, the topper and the notebook covers in a single pass.

Pre-production check

A 120 mm laser-cut topper cut from a hollow sketch letter leaves a 1 mm frame that snaps in the machine. Print the topper on 3 mm board and hand-trim, or use the solid variant, and test one before the set.

Children's-page header, activity caption and bookmark

A notebook-sketch display reads as hand-drawn lettering on a young readers' page rather than a styled masthead. The hollow construction keeps the header light over a busy illustrated page, and the drawn arrow ends point into the activity below without extra artwork.

Pre-production check

Over a printed tint the hollow letter fills optically and the pencil lines disappear into the background. Set the header on white or knock out the interior, and proof one page at 1:1.
