Visual anatomy & craft review
Family Farmhouse is an upright print-script hybrid drawn with a warm marker, with towering wide-topped F capitals, long overhanging F-bars and tall l and h stems against a modest x-height. It is not a copperplate: the strokes are even and disconnected in places, which keeps a phrase readable at 12 mm on a card. The overhanging bars extend the artwork to the left, so the layout must reserve margin, and the face needs roughly 18 mm for the tall stems to feel deliberate rather than stretched.

A warm marker hand reads as something written at the kitchen table, which is what a family note is imitating. Tall stems give a short greeting vertical presence on a small card.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Card 105 x 148 mm, greeting 18 mm with 8 mm left margin for the F bar, message 7/10 pt, 12 mm margins. Porch sign 600 x 400 mm, word 120 mm. Binder 240 x 320 mm, cover 40 mm, spine 8 mm.
Pre-production check
An overhanging F-bar at the start of a line runs into the margin and gets clipped on a trim. Measure from the bar rather than the stem, and check one printed card against the trim edge before the run.
Marker warmth keeps a family Christmas card from looking like a corporate mailing, and the tall forms hold a long surname on one line. Even strokes print on textured card without filling.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Card 120 x 170 mm, greeting 24 mm, message 8/12 pt, 14 mm margins. Tag 50 x 90 mm, name 9 mm, hole 5 mm clear. Sign 600 x 400 mm, word 110 mm, 40 mm margins.
Pre-production check
Holiday cards are printed on textured stock that breaks an 8 pt message line into speckle. Print one proof on the actual card, and if the message mottles, set it in a smooth-face companion.
A marker hybrid reads as a hand-written farm label, which suits preserves and market produce better than a printed serif. Tall stems stay legible on a jar tag at 9 mm.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Label 70 x 50 mm, word 12 mm, 4 mm die margin and 4 mm from the top arc. Sign 900 x 600 mm, word 160 mm, 60 mm margins with 30 mm clear of the frame. Tag 45 x 90 mm, word 10 mm, hole 5 mm clear, 3 mm from the trim.
Pre-production check
Preserve jars go through a hot water bath and paper labels lift at the edge. Use a synthetic label with a permanent adhesive, and test one sealed jar through a full cycle before printing the batch.
