Visual anatomy & craft review
Candy Patch is a kids' display alphabet in which each chunky rounded appliqué letter carries a dashed running-stitch track just inside its edge, so the letter reads as felt sewn onto a patch rather than as a font with a border. Letters are plump with wide counters and a cheerful slight bounce, and the stitch dashes are cut as part of the glyph, which means a cutting machine can follow them. It holds at 15 mm where the stitch track is still visible, and it wants one flat colour per patch plus a white stitch line.

The stitch track makes a printed banner look sewn, which is the whole effect of a quilted theme without any actual sewing. Plump shapes read at 20 mm on a onesie where a detailed face would fade in the wash.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Banner letters 140 mm on 2 mm card, stitch track as a printed line, 5 mm hole at 12 mm, 25 mm margins. Onesie print 120 x 90 mm, name 30 mm. Sticker 40 mm round, word 7 mm, 2 mm die margin.
Pre-production check
DTF prints a fine dashed line as a halftone that can look dotted once washed. Check one transfer after three washes, and if the stitches blur, thicken the dash rather than enlarging the name.
A stitched appliqué look reads as handmade classroom decoration, which is the tone a kindergarten board wants. Wide counters keep a label readable at a glance across a busy room.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Board letters 100 mm on 160 gsm, 30 mm margins, 45 mm pitch. Bin label 90 x 60 mm, word 12 mm, 6 mm border. Binder spine 240 x 30 mm, word 6 mm on a 26 mm panel.
Pre-production check
Labels on craft bins get handled weekly and paper edges fray first. Laminate the label or print on a synthetic stock, and round the corners so a child cannot pick at a square edge.
Stitched letters read as a teacher's own craft project, which is what a primary classroom aesthetic is built on. The stitch track gives a natural cut line for anyone making the tag by hand.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Door sign 250 x 120 mm, word 24 mm, 15 mm margins. Cubby tag 80 x 40 mm, name 9 mm, 3 mm border. Bunting triangles 150 x 190 mm, 90 mm letter, stitch guide 10 mm inside the edge.
Pre-production check
Bunting is cut with pinking shears or straight scissors and the printed stitch line rarely follows the cut. Print the stitch as a guide inside the shape, and trim to the outer edge rather than to the stitch, or the bunting looks misaligned.
