Visual anatomy & craft review
Whiskey Tango is a tall condensed rounded retro sans with more than a hundred and ten private-use extras: squeezed caps with soft corners and a high waist, plus swash letters, ligatures, tails and ornaments reached through alternate keystrokes. It is a packaging face, so it wants a tall panel and a single flat ink rather than a soft ground. The soft corners are the finest element and they plug first at small sizes. It needs roughly 26 mm for the corner and the condensed stem to read, and it is best one flat ink on kraft or white board.

A condensed rounded display sans sets a tall, packed title that a magazine poster needs without squeezing a text face. The display cut holds at 80 pt, and the extras give the standfirst a swash initial.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Opener 210 x 297 mm, title 80 pt with 12 mm corner clearance, standfirst 12/17 pt with a swash initial at 34 pt, body 9/13 pt over two columns of 82 mm, 18 mm margins.
Pre-production check
At 30 pt on a section head the soft corners plug and the head reads as a solid bar. Keep the display cut at 48 pt and above, and proof one spread at 1:1.
A tall condensed retro sans reads as a printed bottle label rather than a modern logo, and the extras let the badge carry a tail. The condensed cut holds at 36 mm on a label, and one flat ink prints the label and the crate in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Label 90 x 120 mm, word 36 mm with 10 mm corner clearance, details 7/9 pt, 8 mm margins. Tap badge 80 mm round, word 22 mm, 4 mm die margin. Crate print 200 x 120 mm, word 44 mm, 12 mm margins.
Pre-production check
On an 80 mm tap badge at 22 mm the counters of the condensed cut plug and the name reads as a slab. Raise the badge to 30 mm, and test one badge before the order.
A condensed retro sans gives an autumn market a printed crate look rather than a modern flyer. The cut holds at 110 mm on a poster, and one warm ink prints the poster and the labels in one pass.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Poster A2, word 110 mm with 14 mm corner clearance, details 32 mm, 20 mm margins. Crate label 120 x 90 mm, word 28 mm, 6 mm margins. Bag print 200 x 120 mm, word 40 mm, 10 mm margins.
Pre-production check
On a 200 x 120 mm bag print at 40 mm the swash extra runs past the panel and gets cut at the seam. Keep the word inside a 10 mm margin, and print one bag before the batch.
