of Whimsical.

Whimsical is a fairytale storybook serif in three styles, sold as a trio of solid, outline and dotted cuts: a light high-contrast serif with a small x-height, ball terminals and a slightly tilted stress, plus an outline version for layering and a dotted version for a stitching look. The family lets one cover carry a solid title and an outlined second line in the same voice. The outline and dotted cuts are the weakest elements and they close first. The solid needs roughly 26 mm and the dotted 36 mm for their detail to read.

Children's publisher identity, cover and card

A storybook serif in three cuts reads as an imprint rather than a modern logo, which is what a small press wants on a spine. The solid holds the name at 30 mm, and the outline carries the second line at 36 mm.

Card 85 x 55 mm, solid 30 mm with 8 mm terminal clearance, 6 mm margins. Cover 210 x 297 mm, title 60 mm, outline line 36 mm, 20 mm margins. Spine 20 x 297 mm, solid 10 mm, 3 mm margins.

Pre-production check

On a 20 mm spine the outline cut closes into a solid and the name prints as a filled bar. Set the spine in the solid cut only, and print one cover before the run.

Wedding

Invitation, order of service and place card

A fairytale serif gives a wedding the look of a printed story rather than a modern card. The solid sets the names at 30 pt, and the dotted cut carries a stitched rule at 36 pt.

Invitation 130 x 180 mm, solid 30 pt with 10 mm terminal clearance, details 9/13 pt, 18 mm margins. Service sheet 105 x 210 mm, head 20 pt, items 9/12 pt. Place card 90 x 50 mm, solid 16 pt, 4 mm margins.

Pre-production check

At 16 pt on a place card the ball terminals fill and the name reads as a slab. Raise place cards to 22 pt, and proof one card before the suite.

Spring

Storybook cover, reading card and bookmark

A three-cut storybook serif lets a small book carry a solid title with an outlined shadow in the same voice. The solid holds at 60 mm on a cover, and the dotted cut carries the bookmark at 36 mm.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

Cover 148 x 210 mm, title 60 mm with 10 mm terminal clearance, 14 mm margins. Reading card 105 x 148 mm, head 24 mm, text 10/14 pt. Bookmark 50 x 150 mm, dotted word 20 mm, 4 mm hole clearance and 4 mm to the trim.

Pre-production check

On a 50 x 150 mm bookmark the dotted cut loses alternate dots and the word reads as a dashed line. Use the solid cut there, and print one bookmark before the batch.
