Fat retro serif with psychedelic curls
Ravlorn is a fat retro serif in brown on cream: heavy rounded strokes, ball terminals that curl into the counters, a swash tail on the final n, and an even weight that reads as a 1970s soft serif rather than a sharp display.

Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The word is set across the middle of the page and the drawing is a soft serif pushed to a heavy weight: the stems are thick and rounded, the bowls of the a, the o and the r close almost to circles, and the terminals carry small balls that curl inward, so the letterforms look inflated rather than cut. The R has a leg that flicks out and up, and the final n is dragged into a long tail that lifts at the end, which is the one flourish in the word. Spacing is generous, which keeps the fat shapes from merging, and the whole word sits inside a rounded double-rule frame with a flower and dot motifs at the top and bottom, so the specimen reads as a 1970s print rather than a modern type sample. The palette is two warm inks on a cream ground, which is the honest way to show a display face meant for posters and packaging.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Ravlorn’s stroke geometry.
A fat retro serif signals a nostalgic, friendly market better than a clean sans, and the rounded weight reads at a distance where thinner retro faces thin out.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
A2 portrait: the name at 130 mm cap height, the date and times in a 16 mm sans, and a 6 mm double-rule frame 25 mm from the trim. Keep the palette to two inks on cream so the soft curves stay the point.
Pre-production check
Check the ball terminals at full size, where a 1 mm ball can fill and look like a blob; keep them at least 2 mm at print size. Confirm the 16 mm details read at four metres and that the frame clears the trim on all sides.
A rounded retro serif sets a decade in one word, and because the shapes are fat and even it stays readable on a small card where a thin retro face would not.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
A6 card: the word at 30 pt, the details in a 9 pt sans beneath, and a small flower motif at the top of the card. Keep the whole card to two warm inks and leave 12 mm margins so the swash tail on the last letter stays inside the trim.
Pre-production check
Check the swash tail at 30 pt against the right margin, where it can be clipped by 1 mm on a trimmed card. Confirm the 9 pt details keep a 4.5:1 contrast and that the fat counters do not fill on an uncoated stock.
A soft retro serif gives a bakery a warm, established feel that a modern sans cannot, and the two-ink palette keeps the label affordable to print.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 70 by 90 mm label: the shop name at 22 pt, the product in 7.5 pt caps, and the weight in 6.5 pt. Keep 5 mm clear inside the die line so the swash is never cut, and print brown and cream only.
Pre-production check
Check the label on kraft stock, where the cream reverses to the paper and the brown reads as the only ink; proof both versions. Confirm the 6.5 pt weight stays legible on the curve and that the swash clears the die by 3 mm.
