Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
Decoration is a tall narrow condensed sans in caps with flat sides, PUA alternates and a compact retro skeleton that reads as architectural signage rather than a modern grotesk. The stems are straight and the counters small, so a long word fits a narrow panel, and the flat sides let the letters sit close without touching. It needs roughly 18 mm for the compact counters to stay open, and it is at its best in one dark ink on a warm neutral ground where the proportions carry the design.

Architectural caps read as an official acknowledgement rather than a greeting, which suits an institutional thank-you. The compact proportions fit a long award title on one line.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Certificate A4 landscape, title 24 mm, name 16 mm, body 9/13 pt, 20 mm margins. Card 148 x 105 mm, heading 12 mm, message 7/10 pt. Tag 50 x 90 mm, name 9 mm, hole 5 mm clear.
Pre-production check
Certificates are printed on 200 gsm and rolled, and a compact cap at 16 mm scuffs along the roll edge. Print one copy, roll and unroll it, and inspect the name before the run.
Flat-sided caps read as drafting titles, which suits an architecture or design publication. Narrow proportions stack a long project name in a single column.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Poster A1, title 200 mm, details 26/32 pt, 40 mm margins and 20 mm clear of the trim. Label 100 x 60 mm, object 9 pt, data 7 pt, 5 mm border. Report 210 x 297 mm, cover 40 pt, 20 mm margins.
Pre-production check
Labels at 7 pt under gallery lighting lose a compact cap's counters. Keep the data in a wider companion sans and reserve this face for the object name, checking one at 40 cm.
Condensed caps read as institutional signage, which is what a design or engineering department wants. The compact width fits a long course title on a board.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Banner 1500 x 400 mm, word 250 mm, 100 mm margins. Board 900 x 600 mm, heading 90 mm, rows 24 mm on a 34 mm pitch. Sign 600 x 200 mm, word 80 mm, 40 mm margins.
Pre-production check
Timetable boards are updated by hand and a narrow cap at 24 mm leaves little room for a student to add a note. Keep row heights at 34 mm, and check one printed board with a written entry.
