Stadium varsity block with layered outlines and a heavy shadow cut
Coach Varsity is a stadium-style block alphabet supplied with layered outlines, so one word can be built as a red fill, a white inner keyline and a black shadow without redrawing.

Visual anatomy & craft review
The C opens as a squared crescent, the H keeps two heavy stems and a low bar, the R holds a full bowl and the Y forks high, all at a very heavy weight with flat slabs and tight fitting. The layers are the practical part: each cut registers against the next, which is how the sample builds a three-colour athletic print at a size where a single-colour face would look flat. Because the letters are solid and equally weighted, two long words stack with minimal leading and hold a wall at 200 mm. Counters stay open enough for a screen print and close below 16 pt. The brush-stroke background, the red and black inks, the football and the banner label are presentation; the typeface is the two words.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Coach Varsity’s stroke geometry.
The layered cuts give a banner the look of a printed athletic front, and the heavy blocks read at 25 cm from the far side of a stand.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 3 by 1.2 m banner: set the team name at 25 cm, register the white keyline at 6 mm and the shadow at 10 mm offset, and keep 20 cm of clear banner at each end so the eyelets fall on flat colour.
Pre-production check
Layers registered by eye drift at banner scale; check the imposed file at 100 percent and confirm the keyline offset before sending to print.
The block shapes embroider as a three-layer patch, and the flat slabs reduce stitch count where a rounded face would pull at 70 mm.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Embroider a 110 mm patch: set the name at 70 mm, keep the keyline as a satin border at 3 mm, and stay 8 mm inside the patch edge so the shadow layer is not caught by the merrow.
Pre-production check
A merrow edge pulls the outer letters inward; check a stitch-out and drop the shadow layer if the patch is smaller than 90 mm.
The layered blocks read on a small sticker at 11 pt and give a bar a mark that looks pulled from a stadium wall rather than drawn.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 65 mm round sticker: set the bar name at 11 pt, keep the keyline at 0.6 mm and the shadow at 1 mm, and leave 6 mm inside the die so all three layers survive the cut.
Pre-production check
A keyline under 0.4 mm disappears on a matte laminate; check the finished sticker and reduce to two layers below 12 pt.
