Solid angular varsity blocks
Varsity Edge is a heavyweight collegiate display: wide slab-serifed capitals with flat tops and feet, tight spacing and squared counters, set navy on cream with a set of sport icons around it.

Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
Varsity stacks above Edge in two rows of capitals that read as a single block, and every letter is built from the same parts: a wide stem, a flat slab serif at top and bottom, and a squared counter that closes almost completely on the E and the D. The spacing is tight enough that the rows lock together, which is how a jersey wordmark works, and the weight is heavy enough to survive one-colour printing. The ground is a warm cream with gold rules, a trophy, a star, a lightning bolt, a football and a soccer ball, and four captions run above and below in tracked caps, including a circular badge at the top right. The face is for apparel, signage and school sports material: one colour, one size, and lettering that has to be read from across a field.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Varsity Edge’s stroke geometry.
The block serifs and the tight spacing are what a college jersey looks like, and the weight survives a single-colour screen print on a mesh shirt.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 300 by 200 mm chest print: set the team name at 85 pt on one row, keep 22 mm of clear ground beneath before the number at 55 pt, and hold 18 mm from the widest letter to the print edge.
Pre-production check
Squared counters fill in on a coarse mesh; print one pull on the actual shirt and check the E and D before the run.
A collegiate block gives a yearbook a cover it can carry for a decade, and the tight spacing makes a long school name fit one line.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 210 by 297 mm cover: set the school name at 60 pt across two rows, keep 20 mm of clear ground beneath before the year at 30 pt, and hold 16 mm of margin on all four sides.
Pre-production check
Long school names force two rows; print one cover and check the second row does not crowd the year before the run.
The lettering is visible from a car park, and a club that prints one sign in one colour gets a mark that matches its kit.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 600 by 400 mm board: set the club name at 100 pt on one row, keep 26 mm of clear ground beneath before the opening times at 15 pt, and hold 24 mm of border on all sides.
Pre-production check
Slab serifs blur at long viewing distance under outdoor lighting; print one board and check it from fifteen metres before the set.
