Visual anatomy & craft review
Charm is a mystical display serif in caps with flared stems, curled horns and small four-point stars, crescent dots and diamond gems tucked into the letterforms, so a word reads as an engraved talisman rather than a title. The gems sit inside the letters, which means the face needs size for them to read as set stones, and the flared stems give it a fine-art weight. It needs roughly 30 mm for the gems to hold, and it is best in bone white on black or in gold on a deep ground.

Celestial gems inside the letterforms read as a talisman, which is what a small occult or jewellery shop is selling. The detail holds at 20 mm on a card and at 150 mm on a window, and one gold ink on a dark ground gives the shop its atmosphere without a photograph.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Sign 600 x 400 mm, word 120 mm with 10 mm gem clearance, 40 mm margins and 20 mm frame clearance. Label 60 x 40 mm, name 9 mm, 3 mm die margin. Card 85 x 55 mm, word 10 mm, 5 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 9 mm label name closes the gem inside the C into a solid dot and the talisman detail disappears. Keep the label at 12 mm or drop the gem alternates at small sizes, and check one applied label.
Gems and crescents read as a spell book page, which is what an occult-themed Halloween night prints at the gate. The flared stems hold in bone on black under low light, and the stars give the poster detail without an illustration pass.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Poster A2, word 260 mm, times 22/28 pt, 30 mm margins and 20 mm trim. Card 105 x 148 mm, word 26 mm, details 8/11 pt. Prop label 90 x 140 mm, word 20 mm, 12 mm margins.
Pre-production check
Bone white on black under a warm lamp loses the fine crescents and the word reads as a plain serif. Add a pale keyline behind the word, and check one card under the venue's actual lighting.
Starred serif forms read as a talisman made for one person, which is what an anniversary gift is. The gems give the card its detail without a photograph, and one ink on a dark ground keeps the print cheap and the mood consistent.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Card 120 x 170 mm, greeting 24 mm with 8 mm gem clearance, message 8/12 pt, 14 mm margins. Print 210 x 297 mm, greeting 55 mm, 30 mm margins. Tag 40 x 70 mm, word 8 mm with a 4 mm hole and 6 mm clear card.
Pre-production check
A 40 mm tag cannot hold a gem plus a punched hole and the stone is cut away. Use the plain serif on small tags, and check one strung tag before the batch.
