Condensed athletic slab
Vintage Varsity is a clean condensed slab in white over a photograph of a classical building: tall capitals with broad horizontal feet, flat terminals and even strokes, set in two lines with a small tracked line above and two plain notes beneath.

Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The two words are stacked and the drawing is a condensed athletic slab with broad feet: the stems are heavy, the serifs are wide horizontals, and the counters are narrow, so the face reads as team lettering with a classical edge. That construction sets a moderate size floor, because the narrow counters close first, and the plate sets the words large enough that each foot is visible. The stone building behind it is staging that gives the word a monumental scale, and the small line above and the two notes beneath are plain caps that name the style and the studio. Because the letters are condensed and heavy, the face fits a long name on a banner and reads at distance on a sign, which is the practical reason to choose this width over a broad collegian.

A condensed slab sets a long school name on one row, and the broad feet read at distance on a banner rail. A long school name has to fit one row.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print 1,300 by 480 mm: the event at 150 mm cap height, the times in a 32 mm slab, and a 5 mm border. Keep 30 mm margins and print one colour on light vinyl.
Pre-production check
Check the banner at ten metres, where a narrow counter can close; keep it above 6 mm. Confirm the 32 mm times read at five metres and that the eyelets clear the block.
A condensed slab prints in one screen and looks like class kit, which suits a reunion shirt sold at a table. A reunion shirt reads best as class kit.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 250 mm chest graphic: the class at 60 mm cap height, the year at 30 mm, and one ink on a light shirt. Keep the narrowest counter at 4 mm and place the graphic 80 mm below the collar.
Pre-production check
Check the screen at actual mesh, where a 4 mm counter can fill; open the spacing. Wash-test one shirt and confirm the feet stay level after five cycles.
A condensed slab gives a gym a sign in the language of sport, and the heavy feet hold on a panel that faces the street. A gym sign is read from a moving car.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Fabricate a 900 by 320 mm panel: the gym at 110 mm cap height, the hours in a 22 mm slab, and a 4 mm rule. Keep 22 mm margins and specify a matte finish.
Pre-production check
Check the panel at 110 mm, where a narrow counter can fill in metal; keep it above 6 mm. Confirm the 22 mm hours read at three metres and that the rule clears the fixings.
