High-contrast condensed serif
Soothe is a modern serif in cream on a dark botanical ground: very high contrast, condensed caps with hairline joins, sharp flat serifs and a circular O, set in two lines with a tracked caption beneath, so the pair reads as a fashion or beauty masthead.

Crisp hairline serifs shine on stationery, foil stamping, and packaging; add slight offset for small decals.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The two words are set at the same width and the drawing is a didone pushed into condensation: the stems are heavy, the hairlines are fine, the serifs are flat and unbracketed, and the O is a narrow ellipse, which is what lets a long word hold a headline width. The tight width also keeps the hairlines from looking fragile at large sizes, and the counters stay open enough that the words read as text rather than as ornament. Spacing is even and slightly tight, so the pair reads as a plate. Because the hairlines are fine, the face needs a large size and a smooth ground, and the specimen places it over a blurred botanical photograph with a tracked caption beneath in the same family.

A condensed contrasted serif reads as luxury on a label, and the narrow width lets a long brand name sit on one line at a size the carton can carry.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the masthead at 24 pt on a carton and 12 pt on a bottle label, with a 6 pt tracked descriptor. Keep one colour on a smooth stock so the hairlines do not fill, and keep the set size above 16 pt on uncoated paper.
Pre-production check
Check the 12 pt bottle label, where hairlines can vanish; keep the size above 10 pt or use a smooth stock. Confirm the descriptor reads on the shelf and that the masthead holds at 30 percent in a thumbnail.
A condensed contrasted masthead gives a beauty cover its expected elegance, and the narrow letters leave room for cover lines without shrinking the title.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the masthead at 110 mm cap height across 220 mm, the cover lines in an 8 pt serif, and the issue details at 7 pt. Keep the masthead over a soft area of the photograph and put the cover lines in the lower third.
Pre-production check
Check the masthead at 110 mm, where hairlines can break on the press; keep them above 0.3 mm. Confirm the cover lines read at newsstand distance and that the masthead survives a thumbnail crop.
A high-contrast condensed serif reads as formal without a script, and the narrow width lets two long surnames share a line at a full size.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
A5 invitation: the names at 24 pt in caps, the request in a 10 pt serif, and the date at 9 pt caps at 150 units tracking. Keep 22 mm margins and letterpress one ink on a heavy cotton stock.
Pre-production check
Check the 24 pt names on cotton, where fine serifs can sink; proof the plate on the actual stock. Confirm the 10 pt request reads at arm's length and that the two surnames keep a visible gap.
