Visual anatomy & craft review
Retro World is a plump nineteen-seventies psychedelic bubble display: fat rounded letters built from overlapping flower petals, a wobbling baseline and a soft outline that separates the bubbles from the ground. The petals close the counters early and the outline is the finest element. It needs roughly 32 mm for the petal edge and the outline to read, and it is best in two warm inks on cream, or one burnt orange on white where the petal edges stay open.

A psychedelic bubble display reads as a hand-drawn seventies poster rather than a modern flyer, which is what a retro festival wants at the gate. The petals hold at 130 mm on a poster, and two warm inks print the poster and the tote from one separation.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Poster A2, word 130 mm with 15 mm outline clearance, details 40 mm, 20 mm margins. Stage banner 3000 x 800 mm, word 260 mm, 60 mm safe edge. Tote print 300 x 300 mm, word 70 mm, 25 mm margins.
Pre-production check
Screen printed on a tote at 70 mm the soft outline bridges and the petals fill into one blob after a wash. Use the flat cut on fabric, and wash one sample before the order.
A psychedelic display announces a themed birthday through the lettering alone. The petals hold at 40 mm on an invite, and two warm inks print the invite and the banner as one set.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Invite A6, word 40 mm with 10 mm outline clearance, details 8/11 pt, 12 mm margins. Topper 130 x 110 mm, word 44 mm with a 6 mm stick slot and 12 mm clear. Banner 1500 x 400 mm, word 150 mm, 30 mm safe edge.
Pre-production check
A 130 mm topper cut through a petal leaves a 1 mm island that falls out. Cut toppers to the outer silhouette, and test one before the party.
A bubble display turns a retrospective page into its own period cover, which is what a music feature wants at the top. The petals hold at 72 pt on a coated cover, and two warm inks print the cover and the opener as one spread.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Cover 210 x 297 mm, title 72 pt with 12 mm outline clearance, cover lines 10/14 pt over two columns of 82 mm, 18 mm margins and a 12 mm head. Opener 56 pt with 10 mm of clear ground. Section head 26 pt, 10 mm above and 6 mm below.
Pre-production check
At 26 pt on the section head the petals fill and the head reads as a solid orange block. Keep the face at 40 pt and above, and proof one spread at 1:1.
