Visual anatomy & craft review

Letterform structure
of Nash.

Nash is a 1970s psychedelic bubble display with bottom-heavy swells, groovy flower-power curves and a baked 3D extrusion in a second colour, so a word reads as a retro shirt transfer rather than a modern poster. The extrusion fixes the light direction and the swollen strokes keep it friendly at 26 mm, while the wide counters survive a single-colour print. It needs roughly 28 mm for the swell and shadow to read, and it is best in cream with mustard and burgundy on a warm ground.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Nash’s stroke geometry.

Brand & packaging

Retro shirt print, mug wrap and label

Groovy bubbles with a baked shadow read as a seventies merchandise print, which is what a small brand sells as a capsule. The extrusion gives depth in one print pass, and the swollen strokes hold at 55 mm on a garment.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

Shirt print 280 x 160 mm, word 60 mm, 40 mm margins. Mug print 200 x 90 mm, word 25 mm, 12 mm from the rim on a 120 mm band. Label 70 x 45 mm, name 12 mm, 4 mm die margin.

Pre-production check

A plastisol print at 60 mm bridges the 1 mm gap between the letter and its shadow and the word turns into one mass. Keep the gap at 1.5 mm or raise the print to 75 mm, and approve a strike-off.

Birthday

Retro party invite, banner and cup wrap

Seventies bubbles read as a decade-themed party, which is what a milestone birthday is. The heavy forms cut cleanly at 50 mm, and the baked shadow gives the invite depth without a second print pass.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

Invite A6, word 40 mm, details 8/11 pt, 12 mm margins. Banner 900 x 300 mm, word 140 mm, 40 mm margins and 20 mm clear of each eyelet. Cup wrap 200 x 90 mm, word 20 mm, 10 mm from the rim.

Pre-production check

A cup wrap crosses a taper and the extrusion slides at the seam, so the word looks doubled. Keep the word inside the flat 60 mm centre band, and check one wrapped cup before the party.

Summer

Festival poster, stage banner and merch-sign panel

Psychedelic bubbles read as a summer festival brand, which is what a small outdoor event needs. The wide forms fill a poster with one word, and the mustard and burgundy palette works on a sunny fence.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

Poster A2, word 280 mm, lineup 22/28 pt, 30 mm margins and 20 mm trim. Banner 2400 x 800 mm, word 380 mm, 150 mm margins with eyelets every 500 mm. Panel 900 x 300 mm, word 140 mm, 50 mm margins.

Pre-production check

A stage banner on mesh shows perforations through a heavy fill and the word looks dotted. Print the word on a solid vinyl panel and sew it to the mesh, and check one hung panel in daylight.
