Varsity slab crossed by a thin script
Prime Varsity is a varsity and script pair in black on cream: heavy condensed slab capitals for the two big words and a thin monoline script written across them in a single flowing line, sold together as one duo.

Visual anatomy & craft review
The pairing is the design: PRIME and VARSITY are stacked in heavy condensed slab capitals with flat serifs and tight fitting, while Prime Varsity runs across the middle in a thin monoline script with a long entry stroke, tall loops and an exit that swings out to the right. The two are deliberately far apart in weight, which is what allows the script to sit over the capitals without turning into a mess, and the script keeps to the middle band so the capitals still read as two solid words above and below it. The condensed capitals keep a long word inside the page, and the script adds the movement the block lacks. The ground is a cream fabric with soft folds, which gives the black type a warm surface, and a tracked capital line at the foot names the pair. Prime Varsity is a duo for team wear, school signage, posters and merchandise, and it needs short words in each style and a light ground.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Prime Varsity’s stroke geometry.
The pair covers a team name and a motto on one garment, and the script can carry a personal name across the varsity block.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 280 mm chest width: set the team name at 65 mm cap height in the slab, set the script at 40 mm across it, and hold 55 mm clear of each sleeve seam.
Pre-production check
A thin script over a heavy block can break in embroidery; order one stitched sample and check the script before the squad order.
A varsity pair gives a gym a signage system in one purchase, and the script line can carry the opening hours across the block.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 1000 by 350 mm panel: set the name at 170 pt in the slab, set the script at 90 pt across it with 36 mm of clear ground, and hold 34 mm of margin on all four sides.
Pre-production check
A script crossing a panel can look like an accident if it is centred badly; proof one panel and adjust the crossing point.
A varsity duo lets a yearbook cover carry a heavy title and a light line without a third font, which keeps the print budget simple.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 210 by 280 mm cover: set the title at 80 pt in the slab, set the year at 40 pt in the script with 24 mm of clear ground, and hold 18 mm of margin on all four sides.
Pre-production check
Two hands this far apart need air between them; proof the cover flat and check that the script clears the capitals.
