The solid style is built from thick rounded strokes that touch where they join, and its capitals are as tall as the ascenders, so a two-word title reads as a pair of stacked blocks. The outlined style keeps the same skeleton but leaves a white channel inside every stroke, which turns each letter into a container and makes the face usable over photographs, because the drawing reads as an edge rather than a fill. The thin companion has a much higher contrast silhouette in the same bouncy rhythm, with long looping descenders and a smaller x-height, and it is the style the designer sets the small caption line in.
