Simple unjoined handwriting with a light bounce

Tuesday

Tuesday is a simple handwritten face in black on white: a monoline, unjoined hand with tall ascenders, circular bowls and a slight bounce along the line, shown over pale yellow doodles of rainbows, stars and squiggles.

Visual anatomy & craft review

Letterform structure
of Tuesday.

The word fills the frame on one line, and the face is an unjoined handwriting: the T carries a wide flat top, the u and the e close in open circles, the s curves without a join, the d and the y stand tall with straight stems, and nothing connects, so the spacing does the work of holding the word together. The stroke is monoline with rounded ends that thicken a touch on the downstrokes, and the baseline rises and falls by a few percent, which is what makes the line look written rather than set. The ascenders run well above the x-height while the lowercase stays small, so the word reads as a row of tall thin letters with round bodies. Behind it a pale yellow field of doodles, rainbows, stars, dots and squiggles, sits at low contrast, with a tracked capital line at the foot. Tuesday is a handwritten face for notes, cards, packaging and social graphics, and it suits short phrases at a generous size.

Practical applications

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Tuesday’s stroke geometry.

Editorial & posters

Heading for a personal essay

An unjoined hand lightens a page that would otherwise read as institutional, and the even stroke keeps a phrase legible at a small size.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

Print a 148 by 210 mm essay opener: set the heading at 34 pt over one line, keep 14 mm of clear ground beneath before the text at 11 pt, and hold 18 mm of margin on all four sides.

Pre-production check

A bouncy baseline next to justified text can read as misalignment; keep the heading on its own line and proof the page.

Classroom & school

Worksheet title for a class

A handwriting face matches what a worksheet asks a child to do, and unjoined letters keep the model readable for a beginner.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

Print an A4 sheet at 210 by 297 mm: set the title at 36 pt on one line, keep 18 mm of clear ground beneath before the instructions at 12 pt, and hold 20 mm of margin on all four sides.

Pre-production check

Thin strokes can fade on a classroom photocopier; run one copy on the school machine and check the contrast before printing a class set.

Brand & packaging

Sticker for a bakery counter

A simple hand looks like a note left on the counter, and the short word fits a small sticker where a longer label would not.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

Print a 60 mm round sticker: set the word at 20 pt on one line, keep 8 mm of clear ground inside the die, and hold the artwork 5 mm clear of the circle edge.

Pre-production check

A round die can trim the tall ascenders; keep the word centred and cut one sticker before running the sheet.
