Crisp cathedral blackletter with flat tops and fine diamond spurs
Cryptborne is a crisp cathedral blackletter in which the letters are built from flat-topped stems, fine diamond spurs and thin hairlines against heavy mass, so a short word reads as carved stonework.

Visual anatomy & craft review
The C opens with two heavy curved strokes that meet in a fine point, the r and the y carry diamond terminals, the b and the t rise into flat-topped stems and the o is drawn as two thick crescents enclosing a narrow slit. Unlike a manuscript blackletter, the counters here are almost closed and the hairlines are needle-thin, which is what gives the face its engraved-metal look rather than a pen-written one. Weight is high but the drawing is precise: every spur is a true diamond and every curve is symmetrical, so the word holds together at 80 pt on a cover and at 16 pt on a spine. The dark ground, the silver fill, the small star ornament and the three caption lines are presentation; the typeface is the word.

The crisp blackletter reads as carved signage on a dark poster, and the fine hairlines give it an engraved quality that a plainer gothic cannot supply.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the title at 100 pt on an A2 poster, set the date and venue in a small caps sans at 20 pt, and hold 30 mm below the lettering so the spurs do not touch the details.
Pre-production check
Needle hairlines under 0.15 mm disappear when printed on uncoated dark stock; check the proof at final size and thicken the hairlines rather than the mass.
The cathedral construction gives a title page its heaviness in one line, and the fine spurs keep the page from looking blunt at 48 pt.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the title at 48 pt on an A5 title page, set the author in a small caps serif at 10 pt, and leave 22 mm between the title and the imprint at the foot of the page.
Pre-production check
Uncoated book stock opens the hairlines and closes the counters; print the title page on the actual paper and check the balance before the run.
The engraved weight sits well on a dark bottle label, and the symmetrical drawing keeps the mark legible at 15 pt on a curved surface.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the brand at 15 pt on a 50 by 80 mm label, keep the age statement in a 6 pt caps serif, and leave 6 mm of margin so the diamond spurs stay inside the label.
Pre-production check
Foil on a blackletter fills the narrow counters; check a foil dummy and open the counters slightly before the die is produced.
