Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
Celtic is an intricate interwoven knotwork block display: heavy squared letters whose counters and stems are filled with braided bands that pass over and under each other, with small circular knots at the joins. The braid is the design and it silts into a mush as soon as the face is reduced or printed with a coarse screen. It needs roughly 40 mm for the over-under braid to read, and it is best in one fine ink on smooth stock, or a single etched or foiled colour where the braid prints as a bright line.

An interwoven knotwork face reads as a carved pub sign rather than a modern logo, which is what a heritage bar wants over its door. The braid holds at 90 mm on a sign, and one ink prints the sign and the coasters in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Sign 1200 x 400 mm, word 140 mm with 14 mm braid clearance, 25 mm safe edge. Coaster 95 mm square, word 20 mm, 5 mm die margin. Card 85 x 55 mm, word 16 mm, 5 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 95 mm coaster at 20 mm closes the over-under braid into a solid bar and the name reads as a block. Raise the coaster to 30 mm, and cut one coaster before the batch.
An intricate knotwork face is the holiday itself, so a card needs no separate graphic. The braid holds at 32 mm, and one green ink prints the card and the banner in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Card A6, word 32 mm with 10 mm braid clearance, note 8/11 pt, 14 mm margins. Banner 1200 x 400 mm, word 140 mm, 25 mm safe edge. Pub sign 900 x 400 mm, word 120 mm, 25 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A banner printed at 140 mm on mesh loses the braid through the eyelets. Use a solid substrate for the braid, and inspect one banner before hanging.
A knotwork face gives a heritage feature a carved header rather than a styled headline. The braid holds at 64 pt on a coated page, and one ink keeps the over-under lines crisp.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Opener 210 x 297 mm, title 64 pt with 12 mm braid clearance, standfirst 11/15 pt, body 9/13 pt over two columns of 82 mm, 18 mm margins. Section head 24 pt.
Pre-production check
At 24 pt on the section head the braid fills and the head reads as a solid block. Keep the face at 40 pt and above, and proof one spread at 1:1.
