Visual anatomy & craft review
Always Perfect is a looped monoline Art-Nouveau serif built for storybooks: an even delicate stroke, tall whipped ascenders that loop back over the word, wide round bowls and small curled terminals that echo the loops. The monoline keeps the face honest at small sizes, and the loops grow the word in both directions. It needs roughly 26 mm for the loop and the curl to read, and it is best in one fine ink on smooth ivory, or a single dark colour on a cream ground where the loops print as a drawn line.

A looped nouveau serif gives a story spread the look of a drawn title page rather than a typeset one. The loops hold at 48 pt, and the open bowls keep a long story title legible at a small page size.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Opener 210 x 297 mm, title 48 pt with 12 mm loop clearance, body 11/16 pt in a single column of 110 mm, 20 mm margins. Drop cap 72 pt over three lines. Caption 9/12 pt.
Pre-production check
At 9 pt the caption's monoline lands near 0.2 mm and a laser printer breaks it into dots. Set captions in the body serif and keep the face at 24 pt and above, then proof one spread at 1:1.
A looped serif reads as an illustrated greeting rather than a printed card, which is what a milestone birthday wants. The loops hold at 40 mm on a topper, and one ink prints the card and the banner in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Card A6, greeting 26 pt with 12 mm loop clearance, note 8/11 pt, 14 mm margins. Topper 130 x 110 mm, word 44 mm with a 6 mm stick slot and 12 mm clear. Banner 1500 x 400 mm, word 150 mm, 30 mm safe edge.
Pre-production check
A 130 mm topper cut through a loop leaves a 1 mm sliver that snaps on the stick. Cut toppers with a 2 mm bridge, and test one before the party.
A looped nouveau serif gives a spring celebration a drawn title rather than a printed one. The loops hold at 30 mm on a card, and one ink prints the card and the welcome sign in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Card A6, title 30 mm with 12 mm loop clearance, note 8/11 pt, 12 mm margins. Welcome sign 600 x 400 mm, word 90 mm, 25 mm margins. Banner 1200 x 400 mm, word 140 mm, 25 mm safe edge.
Pre-production check
On a 600 x 400 mm sign the looped ascender runs past the printed area and gets trimmed. Keep the word inside a 25 mm margin with 12 mm extra above, and inspect one sign before hanging.
