Western slab in solid and outline
Western is a western slab display shown on whitewashed boards in four treatments: a solid badge lockup with a hat and stars, a straight line in outline, a repeated word in outline and an arched line in outline, with a small studio badge in the corner and a format list along the foot.

Visual anatomy & craft review
The plate is a sheet of options rather than a specimen, and that is the right way to sell a western face, because the style depends on the treatment as much as on the letterforms: the same word appears solid, outlined, repeated and arched, so a buyer can see what the set makes possible before opening the file. The drawing is a narrow slab with block serifs and a slight swell, and the outline version carries a fine inner line that reads as a badge. That construction sets a moderate size floor for the outline, which closes before the solid. The boards and the studio badge are staging. The format list along the foot is genuinely useful product copy.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Western’s stroke geometry.
A western slab arched on a board reads as a fairground sign, and the solid cut holds at distance where the outline would break up.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Paint a 1,100 by 400 mm board: the stand at 120 mm cap height on a shallow arch, the prices in a 22 mm slab, and two stars. Keep 26 mm margins and paint two colours on a primed board.
Pre-production check
Check the board at 120 mm, where the arch can make the spacing uneven; set it letter by letter. Confirm the 22 mm prices read at three metres and that the stars stay symmetrical.
A western badge lockup gives a roaster a mark that reads as a printed label, and the outline version converts to a single-colour print on kraft.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 60 by 90 mm label: the badge at 45 mm, the blend at 8 pt, and the weight at 7 pt. Keep 5 mm inside the die and keep the outline stroke above 0.5 mm on kraft.
Pre-production check
Check the 45 mm badge on kraft, where an outline can fill; keep it above 0.5 mm. Confirm the 7 pt weight reads at arm's length and that the label takes a fold without cracking.
A western outline prints in two screens and reads as a costume piece, which suits a themed party shirt for a group. It reads in a crowd.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 250 mm chest graphic: the slogan at 60 mm cap height, the year at 26 mm, and two inks on a light shirt. Keep the outline stroke at 3 mm and place the graphic 80 mm below the collar.
Pre-production check
Check the screen at actual mesh, where a 3 mm outline can fill; thicken it to 4 mm. Wash-test one shirt and confirm the outline stays closed after five cycles.
