Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
Spicy Comic is a superhero display with thick angled block capitals, compact triangular and keyhole counters and hard diagonal cuts, so a word reads as a comic cover title rather than a cartoon bubble. The wedge counters are the design, which means the face needs size for them to stay open, and the sharp angles give it a printed-on-newsprint aggression. It needs roughly 30 mm for the keyhole counter to read, and it is best in red and gold on yellow, or one flat ink on newsprint grey.

Angled superhero blocks read as a shop that sells back issues, which is what a comics retailer is. The heavy strokes hold on a 900 mm window in one vinyl colour, and the wedge counters give the name a punch that a rounded comic face cannot.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Sign 900 x 400 mm, word 160 mm, 60 mm margins and 25 mm frame clearance. Sleeve print 280 x 140 mm, word 55 mm, 40 mm margins. Decal 600 x 300 mm, word 120 mm, 40 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A vinyl-cut decal drops the 1.2 mm keyhole counter as a loose chip that lifts in the weeding. Add a 2 mm bridge across every closed counter on the cut file, and weed one decal before the window run.
Thick comic blocks read as an action cover, which is what a seven-year-old's party theme looks like. The heavy forms cut as a 50 mm topper with wide bridges, and one flat red prints the whole set without a gradient.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Invite A6, word 40 mm, details 8/11 pt, 12 mm margins. Number print 200 x 200 mm, word 120 mm, 30 mm margins. Topper 130 x 110 mm, word 50 mm with an 8 mm slot and 12 mm clear.
Pre-production check
A cape print on stretch fabric distorts a sharp diagonal cut into a curve and the letter looks bent. Use a woven patch or print on a non-stretch panel, and check one sewn sample before the batch.
Angled blocks read as a printed comic cover, which is what an indie issue and a convention poster need. The wedge counters hold at 90 pt on newsprint stock, and one spot colour over black keeps the cover cheap for a small print run.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Cover 170 x 260 mm, title 90 pt, cover lines 9/12 pt, 12 mm margins and 8 mm trim. Opener 420 x 297 mm, headline 120 mm, body 9/13 pt. Poster A2, word 280 mm, details 22/28 pt, 30 mm margins.
Pre-production check
Newsprint absorbs ink and a 0.8 mm counter edge fills, so the keyhole becomes a dot at 90 pt. Print a 20 percent lighter red or raise the title to 110 pt, and check one page pulled from the press.
