Reverse-contrast compact sans
Smacko is a compact reverse-contrast sans in orange on deep green: tall capitals whose horizontals are heavy slabs and whose uprights are thin, with flat terminals, a tight fit and a dotted texture in the field, set as one line with two small notes at the top and a two-line credit beneath.

Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The plate is a screen-printed poster and the face is a reverse-contrast display, which is a rare construction: the horizontals are thick and the verticals are thin, so the letters look top-heavy and slightly wrong in a way that is deliberate. That construction sets a moderate size floor, because the thin uprights disappear first, and it also means the face reads as a mid-century poster rather than as a text face. The dotted field and the two small notes are staging and product copy, and the illustrated figures at the foot are supplied decoration. Because the letters are compact and loud, the face suits a poster, a shirt and a package where one short word has to land hard.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Smacko’s stroke geometry.
A reverse-contrast face reads as a screen-printed sign, and the compact fit turns a short name into a block seen across a street.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
A2 poster: the name at 130 mm cap height, the hours in a 22 mm sans, and the address at 11 mm. Keep 28 mm margins and print two colours on a light stock.
Pre-production check
Check the A2 at five metres, where a thin upright can vanish; keep it above 3 mm. Confirm the 11 mm address reads at two metres and that the block clears the trim.
A reverse-contrast label reads as a mid-century drink, and the compact letters fit a flavour name on a small can. The compact fit sells a drink.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 55 by 90 mm label: the brand at 15 pt, the flavour at 8 pt, and the volume at 7 pt. Keep 5 mm inside the die and keep the uprights above 0.5 mm on the curve.
Pre-production check
Check the 15 pt brand on a curved can, where an upright can fill; keep it above 0.5 mm. Confirm the 7 pt volume reads on the shelf and that the label holds in a cooler.
A reverse-contrast display prints as staff kit, and the heavy horizontals read on a dark shirt where a light face would fade.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 250 mm chest graphic: the diner at 60 mm cap height, the year at 26 mm, and two inks on a dark shirt. Keep the thin uprights at 4 mm and place the graphic 80 mm below the collar.
Pre-production check
Check the screen at actual mesh, where a 4 mm upright can fill; open it to 5 mm. Wash-test one shirt and confirm the slabs stay even after five cycles.
