Visual anatomy & craft review
Seniors First is a chunky varsity block athletic slab serif: extended block letters with thick unbracketed slabs, a small notch cut into the terminals and an even weight that reads as a stadium jersey number. The wide blocks fill a banner and the notch closes when the face is reduced. It needs roughly 30 mm for the notch and the slab to read, and it is best in two flat inks on jersey and felt, or one ink on banner mesh at gate distance.

A chunky varsity block reads as a stadium banner rather than a printed notice, which is what a school team wants above the track. The blocks hold at 150 mm across a banner, and two flat inks print the banner and the certificates in one pass.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Banner 2000 x 600 mm, word 180 mm with 15 mm slab clearance, 40 mm safe edge. Patch 90 x 60 mm, word 34 mm, 4 mm edge margin. Certificate A5 landscape, word 30 mm, 12 mm margins.
Pre-production check
An embroidered patch at 34 mm merges the notch into a plain slab. Keep patch lettering at 40 mm or above, and approve one sample before the order.
A varsity block announces a sports birthday inside the lettering. The blocks hold at 44 mm on a topper, and two flat inks print the invite and the wraps as one set.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Invite A6, word 44 mm with 10 mm slab clearance, details 8/11 pt, 12 mm margins. Topper 130 x 110 mm, word 48 mm with a 6 mm stick slot and 12 mm clear. Cup wrap 200 x 90 mm, word 20 mm, 12 mm from the rim.
Pre-production check
A cup wrap printed across the taper squeezes the notch at the seam and the word reads as a striped band. Keep the word inside the flat 60 mm centre band, and wrap one cup before the party.
A varsity block reads as a team-supply mark rather than a fashion brand. The blocks hold at 24 mm on a cap, and two flat inks print the sign and the card from one file.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Cap mark 60 mm wide, word 20 mm with 5 mm slab clearance, 5 mm margin. Woven tag 50 x 25 mm, word 10 mm, 2 mm margin. Shop sign 900 x 400 mm, word 120 mm, 25 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 50 x 25 mm woven tag at 10 mm closes the notch and the word stitches as a solid bar. Use a printed tag at 14 mm, and check one sample before the run.
