Patriotic is a bold upright brush-calligraphy script with a connected crossbar: thick flat-edged strokes drawn nearly vertical, joins that stay open under the letter bodies and a crossbar that runs across the whole word in one sweep as a banner line. It reads as a hand-painted sign rather than a formal script, and the crossbar is what holds the row together. The crossbar is the finest element and it breaks into separate tittles as soon as the face is reduced. It needs roughly 32 mm for the stroke and the crossbar to read, and it is best as one flat ink on white or red board.
