Fine grain and micro-texture excel in 300 DPI print, sublimation, and screen print rather than small vinyl weeding.
Visual anatomy & craft review
Knockout Grunge is a towering athletic slab with octagonal counters, heavy pillars and a stadium-concrete texture that reads as a fight poster printed cheap and pasted up. The caps are massive and tightly spaced, so a word fills a vertical panel, and the wear is internal enough that the silhouette stays solid at distance. It needs roughly 30 mm for the texture to read, and it is at its best in one colour on a dark ground where the octagonal counters give the letters their structure.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Knockout Grunge’s stroke geometry.
Octagonal athletic pillars read as a fight poster, which is what an event needs on a wall of competing bills. The heavy silhouette stays legible from across a room.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Poster A2, word 300 mm, details 22/28 pt, 30 mm margins. Cover 210 x 297 mm, title 120 pt, cover lines 11/15 pt. Ticket 210 x 75 mm, word 26 mm, 15 mm clear of the perforation.
Pre-production check
A fight poster is read from a distance and a heavy fill with internal wear can look flat under venue lighting. Print one proof and view it at five metres, adding a second tint only if the texture disappears.
Stadium slabs read as club branding rather than fitness-startup minimalism, which is what a boxing gym wants. Heavy letters survive a wall print and a dark garment.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Wall graphic 2400 x 1000 mm, word 600 mm, 250 mm margins. Chest print 280 x 160 mm, word 70 mm, 40 mm margins. Label 90 x 110 mm, word 18 mm, abv 4.5 pt.
Pre-production check
Wall graphics are printed in panels and the seams fall where they fall, so a word can be cut across a letter. Plan the panel breaks through the gaps between letters, and check the assembled wall from ten metres.
Heavy slabs read as official athletics branding, which suits a school that wants weight without a grunge revival look. Octagonal counters keep a long name legible on a banner.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Banner 1500 x 400 mm, word 250 mm, 100 mm margins with eyelets every 500 mm. Programme A5, title 26 pt, order 8.5/12 pt, 12 mm margins. Locker sign 200 x 100 mm, word 34 mm, 20 mm margins.
Pre-production check
School banners are printed on vinyl and hung with grommets that can land inside the artwork. Keep 100 mm clear of every eyelet, and check one banner tensioned before the season.
