Visual anatomy & craft review
Kais is a bold geometric sans in which every capital sits inside a dashed film-strip or marquee border track, so the typeface arrives as a graphic panel rather than as plain letters. The core letters are heavy and simple, which keeps a word readable through the border, and the perforations give the face an arcade or cinema reference without an illustration. The border adds roughly 20 percent to the artwork box on all sides, so the layout must reserve that space; it needs 30 mm overall for the perforations to read as perforations.

Film-strip borders give a screening poster its reference in one element, which saves commissioning artwork. Heavy cores stay legible through the perforated track at poster size.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Poster A2, panel 260 mm wide including borders, 40 mm margins. Programme A5, header 80 mm, listings 8.5/12 pt. Marquee banner 1500 x 400 mm, panel 340 mm.
Pre-production check
Perforation dots under 1.5 mm at print size become a grey tone and the film-strip reference disappears. Check one 1:1 crop, and enlarge the panel rather than the dots if the perforations muddy.
A marquee border reads as an arcade screen at a glance, which is the theme a games party wants. Simple cores keep a child's name readable inside the frame.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Invite A6, panel 90 mm wide including border, name 14 mm, details 4.5 mm, 8 mm margins. Topper 130 x 110 mm, panel 60 mm wide, 8 mm stick slot. Sticker 50 mm round, word 7 mm, 2 mm die margin.
Pre-production check
A topper is pushed into icing and the border closest to the stick can transfer ink. Keep the panel above the 8 mm slot line, print single-sided, and check one assembled topper before the party.
A perforated panel reads as a machine fascia rather than a printed logo, which is what an arcade bar wants on its frontage. One ink covers the whole graphic.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Sign 900 x 400 mm, panel 260 mm wide, 80 mm margins. Card 90 x 55 mm, panel 40 mm wide, word 9 mm. Can label 90 x 110 mm, panel 46 mm wide, 4 mm from the seam.
Pre-production check
Can labels wrap around a seam and a bordered panel crossing it splits in two. Lay the artwork flat against the die, and keep the frame 6 mm clear of the seam before the run.
