Visual anatomy & craft review
GOTHIK RITUAL runs across the frame in a pale bone tone on a photograph of a stone chapel interior, with candlelight at the right and a dark arch behind. The letters are narrow and heavily angled, with spurs that end in thin points, bowls that close tight, and a surface that looks eaten at the edges rather than smooth. Two small cross ornaments, one above and one below the title, and fine rules between the lines divide the card into three bands, and the captions in a spaced serif sit at the smallest size on the page. The contrast between the ornate title and the plain supporting lines is what keeps the card readable. The face is made for atmosphere: it holds up on a poster viewed from a distance, and it becomes a dark mass of spikes when it is set small or reversed out of a busy photograph.

The cut sets the tone before the title is read, and the pale letters hold against a dark photograph where a heavier white face would glare and flatten the image.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print an A2 poster: set the film title at 110 pt across two rows, keep 34 mm of clear ground beneath before the door time at 12 pt, and hold 28 mm of margin so the highest spur stays clear of the trim.
Pre-production check
Pointed spurs break up when printed on textured stock; print one copy at the final size and check the tips before the run.
The lettering signals genre on a shelf where covers are seen as thumbnails, and the dark mass of the title still separates from a dark cover photograph.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 135 by 216 mm book cover: set the title at 56 pt across two rows, keep 20 mm of clear ground beneath before the editor line at 8 pt, and hold 15 mm from the outer letters to the spine edge.
Pre-production check
Matte lamination dulls pale ink on dark covers; print one cover and check the contrast at thumbnail size before the print run.
The face gives a bottle a shelf character that a plain serif cannot, and the narrow forms fit a long brewery name inside a curved label.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 65 by 105 mm label: set the brewery name at 20 pt on one row, keep 7 mm of clear ground beneath before the style at 5 pt, and hold 6 mm at the point where the label curves away.
Pre-production check
Pale ink on dark stock needs an opaque base; print one label on the real paper and check the tone before the batch.
