Letterform structure
of Comic Pop.
The m builds two soft humps under a wide shoulder, the P closes a broad circular bowl, the O stays almost solid and the i floats a large dot above the x-height. The tiny counters are the character: they keep a heavy letter from closing completely, which is why the sample sets a two-word phrase with wide air around it. Because the counters are small, the face wants 34 pt before they stay open and it weeds cleanly from three quarters of an inch of cap height; the lowercase holds best in short bursts rather than sentences. The pale ground, the halftone dots and the small caption are presentation; the black bubble letters are the face.
