Slim blackletter with curled capital terminals and tall ascenders
Gravenhurst sets a condensed blackletter in white against a moonlit churchyard, its capitals hooked, its ascenders drawn to fine points and its counters kept narrow enough to feel carved.

Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The over Gravenhurst runs in two lines, the small The set above the main word, the G curling into a deep hook and the h and t reaching up into points. Strokes are heavy and close together, so the word reads almost as a silhouette at a distance, and the fine joins give it the texture of a carved inscription. Two tracked captions and a short descriptive paragraph sit below, all in the same white. The whole composition depends on the dark ground: reversed out or printed on light paper, the fine joins would need a heavier weight or a different size to survive.

The condensed blackletter gives a seasonal reading its atmosphere without a single illustration, and the heavy strokes read in a dark hall.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 420 by 594 mm poster: set the title at 110 pt across two lines, keep 32 mm of clear ground beneath before the time at 20 pt, and keep 26 mm of border so the points stay inside the sheet.
Pre-production check
Fine join points break at 30 pt; check the proof before setting a long anthology title in the file.
The face has the weight of a printed spine, and the narrow counters keep a long anthology title from becoming a solid black band.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 152 by 229 mm cover: set the title at 50 pt across two lines, keep 20 mm of clear ground beneath before the editor line at 10 pt, and keep 18 mm of margin from the trim.
Pre-production check
Narrow counters blot in offset; check a proof on the chosen paper before the book run begins.
The letterforms suggest a shop that has been there a century, and the heavy strokes hold on a narrow apothecary bottle label.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 40 by 95 mm label: set the product at 14 pt on one row, keep 7 mm of clear ground beneath before the volume at 5 pt, and keep 5 mm to the die edge so no point is cut.
Pre-production check
Keys break down in small labels; check the printed proof before the full bottle run is scheduled.
