Letterform structure
of Ennio.
ENNIO fills the card on a soft mint and pink ground scattered with drawn peppermint sweets and a candy cane at the right. The letters are wide and low with blocky slabs at the feet, a thick black contour around each shape, and a stripe that runs at forty-five degrees through the whole word rather than turning with each letter, which keeps the pattern continuous across the gaps. Under the word a caption sets the style in a plain sans, and a second pair of lines lists the formats. The alphabet runs along the foot of the card so the full set is visible at once, and every letter holds the same stripe angle. Because the stripe is part of the glyph, it behaves differently from a pattern laid behind type: it cannot drift, but it also cannot be recoloured separately, so the face prints best in two colours with the stripe as the lighter one.
