Crisp hairline serifs shine on stationery, foil stamping, and packaging; add slight offset for small decals.
Visual anatomy & craft review
Elva is a minimalist high-contrast editorial serif in caps with wide classical Roman proportions, sharp symmetrical diagonals on the V and A, and razor-crisp hairline brackets. The caps are wide and open, so a short word becomes a graphic panel, and the hairlines are the design, which means the face needs roughly 30 mm before they hold in print. It is a title and label face for luxury and editorial work, best in one ink on smooth coated stock or as a foil on a matte board.

Wide open caps read as a couture mark, which is what a small luxury line wants on a carton. The hairline brackets print beautifully on coated board.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Carton 55 x 140 x 30 mm, name 22 pt, legal 5.5/7.5 pt, 8 mm margins. Label 40 x 70 mm, name 12 pt, 4 mm top arc. Card 85 x 55 mm, name 10 pt, 6 mm margins.
Pre-production check
Hairlines under 0.15 mm fill on uncoated carton and the brackets turn blunt. Print on coated board, and check one 1:1 proof at the final size before the run.
Wide classical caps give a pared-back suite a formal register without a script. The face holds names at 26 pt and details at 9 pt in one voice.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Invitation 120 x 180 mm, names 26 pt, details 9/14 pt, 18 mm margins. Menu 120 x 210 mm, header 14 pt, dishes 9/13 pt. Card 90 x 50 mm, name 9 pt, table 4 pt.
Pre-production check
Heavy cotton stock draws ink and the hairlines thicken, cancelling the contrast that makes the face work. Print one proof on the final stock before committing the suite.
Editorial contrast reads as a magazine title, which is what a fashion or art publication is buying. Wide caps fill a cover line without a photograph.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Cover 210 x 297 mm, title 96 pt, cover lines 10/14 pt, 20 mm margins. Art book 240 x 300 mm, title 60 pt, captions 9/13 pt. Sign 900 x 300 mm, word 140 mm, 60 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A web-offset run drops hairlines under 0.1 mm and the title looks cut. Confirm the press and the coated grade, set a 0.12 mm floor, and check one printed signature before the full run.
