Visual anatomy & craft review

Letterform structure
of Boho Moon.

Boho Moon is a celestial decorative display in which the counters of the letters hide drawn moths, butterflies and moon phases, and the stems carry fine star dots and a thin crescent rule. The illustration sits inside the letter, so the counters must stay open, and the star dots are the first thing to vanish. It needs roughly 36 mm for the moth and the moon phase to read, and it is best in one metallic or deep ink on a dark ground, or a single ink on ivory where the fine dots stay visible.

Brand & packaging

Candle-maker identity, box stamp and label

A celestial display gives a small candle maker a mark that carries the scent story in the counter of the letters rather than a separate illustration. The moths and moon phases read at 34 mm on a box lid, and one ink prints the lid and the jar label from a single artwork.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

Box lid 200 x 200 mm, word 40 mm with 8 mm counter clearance, 20 mm margins. Jar label 70 x 45 mm, word 14 mm, 4 mm die margin. Card 85 x 55 mm, word 16 mm, 5 mm margins.

Pre-production check

A 70 x 45 mm jar label at 14 mm loses the star dots entirely and the letters read as plain with odd marks. Raise the label word to 20 mm or use the dot-free cut, and check one label on a real jar before the batch.

Halloween

Moonlit-event poster, ticket and lantern label

A moon-phase display reads as a celestial event rather than a horror night, which is what a dusk gathering wants instead of a pumpkin. The moths in the counters hold at 120 mm on a poster, and one metallic ink on black prints the poster, the ticket and the lantern labels in one pass.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

Poster A2, word 120 mm with 14 mm counter clearance, times 36 mm, 20 mm margins. Ticket 100 x 50 mm, word 12 mm, 4 mm perforation. Lantern label 90 x 60 mm, word 16 mm, 5 mm margins.

Pre-production check

A metallic ink on matte black sinks and the fine crescent rule disappears, so the letters read as blocks with grey specks. Use a gloss stock or flat white ink for the details, and check one poster under evening light before the run.

Wedding

Evening-wedding invite, moon-phase menu and favour label

A moon and moth display gives an evening wedding a motif that is romantic without flowers, which is what a couple marrying at dusk wants. The celestial counters hold at 30 mm on an invite, and one deep ink on ivory prints the invite, the menu and the favour labels as one suite.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

Invite 130 x 180 mm, word 30 mm with 8 mm counter clearance, names 20 pt, details 9/13 pt, 15 mm margins. Menu 120 x 210 mm, header 18 mm, courses 9/12 pt. Favour label 40 x 60 mm, word 12 mm, 4 mm die margin.

Pre-production check

A 40 x 60 mm favour label at 12 mm closes the moth wings into a blob and the motif reads as a printing fault. Keep favour labels at 18 mm or use the plain initial cut, and check one label before the set.
