Visual anatomy & craft review
BLACK SOVEREIGN fills the middle of the card in a gold fill on a dark stone ground, and the letters are wide and heavy with flat diamonds at the feet and small hooks at the shoulders. A crown sits above the title, a fleuron below it, and two heraldic banners hang at the sides of the frame with lions on them. Two lines of spaced caps under the title describe the face, and a row of small words at the foot lists the qualities it is meant to suggest. The gold is a texture rather than a flat colour, which gives the letters the look of a stamped foil, and the whole composition is symmetric around a central axis. It is a cover and label cut for fantasy, brewing and heritage brands, and it needs a large size to show the fill.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Black Sovereign’s stroke geometry.
The heraldic frame and the gold fill give a plain jacket the weight of a crest, and the wide letters hold a long title at thumbnail size.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 148 by 210 mm cover: set the title at 58 pt across two rows, keep 22 mm of clear ground beneath before the author at 12 pt, and hold 16 mm from the widest letter to the spine edge.
Pre-production check
Gold fills band in offset; print one cover with the real separations and check the transition before the run.
The face gives a bottle a sense of age, and the gold on dark reads across a bar counter without a second graphic element.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 65 by 105 mm label: set the brewery name at 22 pt on one row, keep 8 mm of clear ground beneath before the strength at 5 pt, and hold 6 mm from the diamond feet to the die line.
Pre-production check
Metallic inks close the small counters; print one label in the intended finish and check before the case.
The royal cut suits a formal masked event rather than a modern party, and the gold letters hold in a dim hall lit by chandeliers.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 500 by 700 mm poster: set the event name at 100 pt across two rows, keep 30 mm of clear ground beneath before the date at 14 pt, and hold 26 mm of margin so the crown and fleuron stay whole.
Pre-production check
Gold on dark stock looks brown until it dries; print one poster on the intended paper and compare the tone first.
