Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
Biscora is a condensed retro café sans in which the letters are cut on a diagonal: the stems carry a slanted slice through the counter, the shoulders are squared and the terminals are cut at the same angle, so a word reads as if sliced by one blade. The slice is the whole design and it closes first at small sizes, and the condensation fits long names on a fascia. It needs roughly 26 mm for the diagonal cut to read, and it is best in one warm ink on cream and kraft, or a single dark colour on a pale board.

A diagonal-sliced condensed sans reads as a mid-century café sign rather than a modern brand, which is what a small espresso bar wants above its window. The slice gives the name movement at 60 mm on a fascia, and one ink prints the cups and the loyalty card from one separation.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Fascia 1800 x 400 mm, word 140 mm with 10 mm slice clearance, 30 mm edge clearance. Cup print 70 x 50 mm, word 14 mm, 5 mm margins. Loyalty card 85 x 55 mm, header 9 pt, 5 mm margins.
Pre-production check
On a 70 mm cup panel at 14 mm the diagonal cut fills and the word reads as a plain condensed sans. Raise cup type to 20 mm, and check one printed cup before the order.
A sliced condensed sans gives a food feature the look of a printed menu rather than a styled headline. The diagonal holds at 56 pt on an opener, and the condensed stems fit a long dish name on one line where a wider face would wrap.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Opener 210 x 297 mm, title 56 pt with 8 mm slice clearance, standfirst 11/15 pt, body 9/13 pt in two columns of 82 mm, 18 mm margins. Recipe header 24 pt with 6 mm above. Caption 9/12 pt in the outer margin.
Pre-production check
At 9 pt the caption's slice turns into a notch and the text reads as damaged. Set captions in the body sans and keep the face at 24 pt and above, then proof one page at 1:1.
A sliced condensed sans reads as a board painted for the season rather than a printed menu, which is what a café wants in autumn. The narrow stems hold at 40 mm behind glass, and one ink prints the decal and the sleeve in a single pass.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Menu board 900 x 1200 mm, header 100 mm, items 36 mm, prices 32 mm, 40 mm margins. Window decal 600 x 200 mm, word 80 mm, 20 mm edge clearance. Sleeve 240 x 90 mm, word 22 mm, 12 mm from the seam.
Pre-production check
A slip-in sleeve printed across the taper doubles the diagonal cut at the seam and the word reads as a slash pattern. Keep the word inside the flat 60 mm centre band, and wrap one cup before the batch.
