Broad outlined collegiate slabs with clipped corners in an arched specimen
Athletic is a broad collegiate slab in which the capitals clip their corners, the feet run wide and a pale and dark outline separate the fill from the ground, so a team name reads as an arched badge letter.

Visual anatomy & craft review
The A carries a clipped apex above a wide base, the T spreads a flat arm, the O squares its shoulders and the S turns through clipped curves, all at a varsity weight with a double contour. The arch in the sample is an arrangement rather than an encoded feature, so the straight row is the honest reference for letter structure — a maker arcs the line by hand. Because the contour is fine, the face wants 34 pt in print and layers as two colours on a jersey; the straight row reads better on a narrow board. The navy ground, the arch and the small years line are presentation; the outlined slabs are the face.

The broad slabs read across a field, and the double contour keeps the name separate from a dark banner at 90 mm in daylight.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a two-metre banner: set the name at 90 mm on a straight row, print the pale contour first and the red face over it, and keep 45 mm of border all round.
Pre-production check
An arc drawn by hand can distort the contour; check the artwork and arc the whole group rather than each letter.
The collegiate weight suits a jersey, and the outlined slabs stay solid at 75 mm across a printed chest in two inks on cotton.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 300 mm chest print: set the name at 75 mm, keep the contour at 1.5 mm minimum, and leave 40 mm of clear fabric below the name for the player number.
Pre-production check
A contour printed under 1 mm vanishes at sewing distance; check the film and keep the outer edge at 1.5 mm.
The clipped slabs compress into a badge, and the layered edge keeps the name clear at 26 mm on a printed roundel stitched to a jacket.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 70 mm roundel: set the name at 26 mm, keep the outer contour 4 mm inside the circle, and set the founding year in a 8 pt caps along the lower arc.
Pre-production check
A contour printed across the roundel edge breaks the circle; check the die and keep 3 mm of clear ground at the rim.
