Grunge college slab with picket serifs
Vintage College is a grunge college slab in worn yellow and white on a dark street photograph: fat capitals with picket serifs, a heavy even weight and a scratched surface that eats into every edge.

Fine grain and micro-texture excel in 300 DPI print, sublimation, and screen print rather than small vinyl weeding.
Visual anatomy & craft review
Two words are stacked and the face is a college slab with real wear: the stems are thick, the serifs are heavy pickets as tall as the stems are wide, the A and the V come to flat apexes, the S closes into squared shoulders, and the surface is broken by scratches, chips and small flakes that repeat across the letters without closing the counters. The wear is what makes the face: it reads as a word stencilled on a crate rather than a word set on a page, and because the damage is even, the word still reads at a distance. The two lines are printed in different colours, one yellow and one white, which separates them against a dark background, and a tracked capital line names the product at the foot. The ground is a desaturated photograph of a city street with figures in the foreground, dark enough that both inks hold. Vintage College is a display face for apparel, posters, packaging and event graphics with a worn, collegiate feel, and it needs capitals at a large size and a dark or mid-tone ground.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Vintage College’s stroke geometry.
A worn college slab is what a campus garment is expected to wear, and the heavy serifs survive a screen print on a textured fabric.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 260 mm chest width: set the college name at 65 mm cap height, keep 26 mm of clear ground beneath before the year at 16 mm, and hold 55 mm from each sleeve seam.
Pre-production check
Fine chips disappear in a screen print; print one garment and check the wear pattern before the squad order.
A worn block gives a campus issue an archival look, and the two-colour placement separates a title from a standfirst without a second family.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 210 by 280 mm cover: set the title at 80 pt over two lines, keep 24 mm of clear ground beneath before the coverlines at 10 pt, and hold 16 mm of margin on all four sides.
Pre-production check
Distress over a dark photograph can look like noise; proof one cover and judge the wear at the final size.
A college slab reads from the pavement at walking pace, and the worn surface suits a shop that sells used books rather than new stock.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 900 by 300 mm panel: set the name at 150 pt on one line, keep 42 mm of clear ground beneath before the hours at 28 pt, and hold 36 mm of margin on all four sides.
Pre-production check
A worn edge on a large panel can look like damage; print one panel and view it from across the street before the run.
