Visual anatomy & craft review
Apothecary is a bouncy modern brush calligraphy script with high loops: a loaded brush stroke, very high ascenders that loop twice, a shallow slant and a soft bounce that lifts the middle of a word, with tapered flicks on the exits. The loops grow the word tall and the brush edge is the finest element. It needs roughly 26 mm for the double loop and the brush edge to read, and it is best in one deep ink on smooth card, or a foil impression above 38 pt where the loops still turn.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Apothecary’s stroke geometry.
A high-looped brush script reads as a hand-labelled bottle rather than a designed logo, which is what a small herbalist wants on a shelf. The loops hold at 26 mm on a label, and one ink prints the label and the box in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Bottle label 90 x 70 mm, word 26 mm with 10 mm loop clearance, details 7/9 pt, 5 mm margins. Box stamp 100 x 60 mm, word 26 mm, 6 mm margins. Card 85 x 55 mm, word 16 mm, 5 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 90 x 70 mm label wrapped on a curve pulls the loops past the die line and the blade clips them. Pull the word in 4 mm, and check one label on an empty bottle before the run.
A bouncy brush script reads as a written note rather than a printed acknowledgement. The brush edge holds at 22 mm, and one ink prints the card, the label and the tag in one pass.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Card A6, greeting 22 mm with 10 mm loop clearance, note 8/11 pt, 12 mm margins. Jar label 70 x 45 mm, word 12 mm, 4 mm die margin. Market tag 50 x 90 mm, word 12 mm with a 5 mm hole and 8 mm clear.
Pre-production check
A 70 x 45 mm jar label at 12 mm closes the double loop into a blob on wet-strength paper. Raise the label to 16 mm, and check one labelled jar before the batch.
A high-looped script signs a modern wedding invitation in a hand rather than a plate. The loops hold at 28 pt, and the bounce keeps a long name from looking typed.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Invitation 130 x 180 mm, names 28 pt with 14 mm loop clearance, details 9/13 pt, 16 mm margins. Menu 120 x 210 mm, header 16 pt, courses 9/12 pt. Place card 90 x 50 mm, name 12 pt, 4 mm margins.
Pre-production check
At 12 pt on a place card the double loop fills and the name reads as one tall blob. Raise place cards to 16 pt, and proof one card before the suite.
