Squared collegiate capitals with an inner border and a shadowed second line
Abcd Jersey is a squared collegiate capital alphabet with an inner border, drawn so a two-line design can carry a light top line and a heavy bottom line in one family.

Visual anatomy & craft review
The letters are built on a wide rectangular skeleton: the A closes to a flat apex, the B keeps two deep bowls, the C opens to a square bracket and the D holds a full rectangular bowl. Every letter carries a thin inner border, which lets a designer fill the body and the border separately without redrawing, and the sample shows the same skeleton twice, once light and once heavy. Slabs are square and unbracketed, the fit is tight and the counters are narrow, which keeps a long school name on one line. The shadowed bottom line in the sample is a treatment rather than a second weight. The cream ground, the navy and red fills and the small bottom line are presentation; the typeface is the words.

The inner border lets a team print the letter body in one colour and the edge in another in a single pass of artwork, and the college skeleton is already the expected register.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the school name at 80 mm across a 280 mm chest, keep the year in the same face at 35 mm, and hold 20 mm between the lines so the borders stay distinct.
Pre-production check
A thin border under 2 mm fills in on a dark garment; check a pull on the actual shirt and widen the border rather than the letters.
The squared construction reads from the far end of a hall, and the tight fit lets a long school name sit on one line of a wall panel.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the name at 25 cm on a 3 m wall, keep the room labels in a plain sans at 6 cm, and hold 20 cm of margin so the squared slabs are not cut by a corner.
Pre-production check
Painted borders need a steady hand or stencil bridges; check one letter on the wall before the rest and open the smallest counters first.
The collegiate construction suits a period clothing label, and the border gives a woven patch structure without a second element.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the brand at 30 mm on a 60 mm patch, keep the est. line in a 5 mm caps sans, and keep 6 mm from the stitched edge so the border is not caught by the stitch.
Pre-production check
Woven patches soften a thin border into a dotted line; check a woven sample and simplify the border before approving.
